Keep up the good work!!! Newmont is planning to create two huge goldmines in the unique Nassau Mountain area in the eastern part of Suriname. The company is now negociating with the Suriname government. The area has got a unique biodiversity, however here in Suriname there is no resistance what soever against the plans!! So I am trying to raise a bit of awareness here on the dark sides of Newmont in the world. The company has problems in your country, in Indonesia, in Ghana and in Peru at the moment.......

I live in California, and a rock crusher was allowed to have permits approx. 100 feet from my door. No-one in city hall, the county hall, or anywhere else seems to give a damn, because this company brings in revenue.
Neighbors are mostly illegals who won't stand up to complain.
I sympathize with you, boy, do I ever.

and you should have known that the mine has license to mine martha until 2017 but can actually process gold on site in waihi until 2035 meaning if they stop mining martha today they will still process the underground ore they are currently seeking beneath the pit and all the ore collected from the new undergound operations they are proposing beneath private property in residential areas of waihi..
You should have known that the mine is only interested in doing what is financially viable for them which means they cannot factor the purchase of the homes they actually effect into their budget, shareholdders would not stand for a loss of their profit, but you should have known the overseas owned multi national corporation and its ethical investors wouldnt mind you losing your equity, peace of mind and future dreams,, that Newmont can live with... Keep fighting Waihi you have the power to improve your situation
